Tight Lines and Tough Days
We are taking the bad with the good and capitalizing on the good days. The wind and the cold came to an end on the tarpon popped up. With another front fast approaching Barret and I made the most of the time we had. Monday and Tuesday turned out to be our best days for the week. We found tarpon in several spots. The problem was getting them to eat a fly. The old tried and true fly got a bite and some follows, but not the reaction we had hoped for. Then we started changing flies. That was the wrong move. Every fly we threw was rewarded with the fish exploding in the opposite direction. I was pulling my hair out.
Tuesday the fish were around again and the bite was a little better. We got several bites and landed a couple fish. We got one on bait, one on fly and lost a few on lures. The action was good and we saw a lot of fish. Unfortunately the weather made a turn for the worse and the fish seemed to disappear. With hopes that things would improve we stuck it out for the tarpon and didn?t get the reward. However, Barret was happy to just catch a few tarpon and have the opportunity to be there. There is always next year.
